On a day, the Congress-led Opposition observed a Bharat Bandh over rising fuel prices, the BJP on Monday tweeted graphs on retail selling price of petrol and diesel in Delhi.

The graph, titled ‘Truth of Hike in Petroleum Prices’, depicts a fall in prices of petrol and diesel instead of an increase.

The graph for petrol shows that percentage increase in petrol prices between 2014 to 2018 was 13%, which is a drop in comparison to 2009-2014.

Similarly, the graph on increase in diesel prices shows percentage increase in diesel prices between 2014-2018 was 28%, whereas the percentage increase between 2009-2014 was 83.7%.

Congress was quick to point out the mistake and tweeted an infographic showing the actual fuel price hike. Taking a dig at the BJP, the Congress said they are better at handling the economy and that is why people should vote them back to power.

Meanwhile, fuel prices continued its northward march on Tuesday with petrol being sold at Rs 80.87 and diesel at Rs 72.97 per litre in the national capital.

Both the petrol and diesel prices saw hike of 14 paise per litre in Delhi. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, petrol and diesel have touched a new high of Rs 88.26 and Rs 77.47 per litre respectively.
