In a breaking development, a major fire erupted in the forest area near Modi Mill in Okhla on Saturday evening, as confirmed by fire officials. Responding swiftly to the emergency, at least seven fire engines have been deployed to the scene to combat the blaze, according to authorities, as reported by PTI.
The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) received a distress call at 4:52 pm reporting the fire in the forest area near the Modi Mill Flyover in southeast Delhi. Collaborative efforts between the fire department and local police are currently underway to control and extinguish the flames.
The fire, which originated on the roadside, has resulted in a substantial traffic disruption on Mathura Road near Nehru Place and Kalkaji, causing inconvenience to commuters. Traffic police personnel have been mobilized to regulate and manage the flow of vehicles in the affected area.
"Traffic is affected on Mathura road in the carriageway from Ashram Chowk towards Apollo Hospital as a major fire has broken out under Modi Mill Flyover alongside Mathura road. Kindly avoid the stretch," stated the traffic police.
