The chief executive officer of an artificial intelligence start-up, Suchana Seth, aged 39, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly killing her four-year-old son in a service apartment in Candolim, North Goa. Police revealed that after committing the gruesome crime, she attempted to end her own life.
The 39-year-old entrepreneur suffocated her son to death in a room in the service apartment in Candolim, where they checked in on January 6, and then tried to die by suicide by cutting her left wrist with a sharp object, a senior police official told PTI.
While the motive behind the murder remains unknown, Seth informed the police that she and her husband were estranged, and divorce proceedings were underway.
Police apprehended Seth in Karnataka’s Chitradurga district as she tried to flee in a cab with her son’s body stuffed in a bag.
