Five people were injured after three coaches of Charminar Express derailed at the Nampally Railway Station of Hyderabad on Wednesday morning.
The incident took place at around 9:15 AM. The train was coming from Chennai to Hyderabad.
Rakesh, CPRO, South Central Railway, said this railway station is a terminal station where trains end, adding that the train should have stopped before the end, however, it overshot.
"Three coaches of the train got derailed in the incident. Around 5 people who stood near the doors of the train suffered minor injuries in the incident. They are being treated at the Railway Hospital," Rakesh said.
BRS MP Ranjith Reddy took to microblogging platform X and called the Charminar Express derailment at Nampally station "deeply distressing."
He urged Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to ensure "immediate and comprehensive medical care for all injured passengers, followed by further arrangements for stranded travellers."
"The safety of our railways cannot be compromised. I demand a thorough investigation into the cause of this incident, holding accountable those responsible, and implementing concrete safety measures to prevent such incidents from ever happening again," he said in the post.
