The security forces in Chhattisgarh conducted two raids in Narayanpur district. They reportedly destroyed one Maoist camp in the Abujhmad region and arrested two Maoists who were involved in damaging roads last year.
According to the reports, the region of Abujhmad is huge and the Maoists have a stronghold on it.
A joint team was made collaborating District Reserve Guard (DRG), Narayanpur police and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) for a search operation for a Maoist camp following the leads they received of it being set up in the Bhatbeda village of Abujhmad which is reportedly 60kms from Narayanpur city.
Superintendent of Police Hemsagar Sidar told the media, “However, before we could reach the camp, the Maoists were alerted by their informers and they managed to flee deep into the Bhatbeda forest."
According to the reports 100 splinters were recovered from the destroyed tents which were the size of pellets and were allegedly used with gunpowder to make Improvised Explosive Devices (IED).
While another team was set up for arresting Maoists from Abujhmad, the Orccha police camp was able to arrest two of them on Thursday, reportedly.
Reports said that the two arrested were members of the Nelnar Jan militia, they are identified as Dasu Korram aged 40 and Vijay Korram aged 24.
The two were allegedly involved in the damaging of a bitumen road last year and have been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
