Tragedy struck in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district as four workers lost their lives and three others were injured in an unfortunate incident at a brick kiln in Dhaltitah village, Basirhat. The mishap occurred during an attempt to restart the kiln, which had been closed for a year.

Barishat police confirmed the casualties, stating that two individuals succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital, while two others were discovered among the debris. All the victims were employees of the brick kiln. Currently, two injured workers are receiving treatment at Basirhat Hospital, while a third, in critical condition, has been transferred to RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata.

The deceased have been identified as two individuals from Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh, Jethuram, and Rakesh Kumar, along with a local resident named Hafizul Mondal. The identity of the fourth victim remains unknown.

Authorities are yet to determine the cause of the chimney collapse, and an investigation is set to be launched to ascertain the circumstances leading to this tragic incident.
