India firmly expressed its disapproval on Thursday over China's issuance of stapled visas to sportspersons from Arunachal Pradesh, deeming the move "unacceptable." The External Affairs Ministry asserted that it retains the right to respond appropriately to such actions, signaling the seriousness of the matter.
During a media briefing, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi revealed that India had already lodged a "strong protest" with China in response to the stapled visas issued to some Indian citizens who were set to represent the country in an international sporting event hosted by China.
Bagchi underlined India's longstanding and unwavering stance that there should be no discrimination or differential treatment based on domicile or ethnicity in the visa regime for Indian citizens holding valid Indian passports.
