In a significant political development, Rameshwar Dadhich, a close aide to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Jodhpur mayor, has switched allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The political shift gains significance as it unfolds just ahead of the 2023 Rajasthan legislative assembly election scheduled for November 25, with the counting of votes slated for December 3. Joining him in this move is Vinod Sharma, a former zila pramukh of Dausa and a prominent Congress leader, according to media reports.
Dadhich, a longstanding member of the chief minister's cabinet, cited his admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decisive leadership, particularly pointing to the resolution of the long-standing issue of the Ram temple. He expressed his belief in Modi's commitment to the welfare of all sections of society, emphasizing efforts towards the upliftment of the poor and marginalized.
Echoing similar sentiments, Vinod Sharma highlighted Modi's vision for the all-round development of the country, contrasting it with what he perceived as the Congress's lack of substantial empowerment for the OBC community despite verbal commitments.
Jodhpur MP Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, during the welcoming ceremony at the BJP headquarters, emphasized the disillusionment of the new entrants with the Congress and predicted a decline for the Congress government in the state, attributing it to perceived failures and anarchy.
