The Congress in Karnataka is hurling baseless allegations against the Centre for its failure to provide the free schemes it promised to the people, BJP state president and Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel alleged on Wednesday.
Kateel was reacting to state Public Works Department Minister Satish Jarkiholi’s charge that the Centre had hacked the ‘Gruha Laxmi’ scheme app of the state government.
Addressing reporters here, he said the Union government will not do any such act as hacking a state government website. The blame for the failure of the state government is being thrust on the Centre, Kateel said.
The Congress government has also failed to implement the Anna Bhagya scheme to provide 10 kg of rice to BPL families and it is putting the blame on the Centre, he added. "While making the promise, they did not say that the rice will be provided only if the Centre made the allocation," he said.
"The Centre has been providing 5 kg of rice to the public since the pandemic days. The state has not placed the demand before the Centre that it needs two lakh tonnes of rice, and are satisfied with giving statements against the Union government," Kateel added.
He said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should take steps to provide the free rice promised to the people instead of "indulging in silly politics of criticising the Centre if the Congress party is left with any morality".
