Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded 64 fresh coronavirus positive cases, which took the state's overall infection tally to 81,69,016, while the death toll remained unchanged at 1,48,550 as nobody succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, the health department said.
The state had recorded 39 cases and one fatality on Tuesday. At present, the dominant variant of Covid-19 is Omicron XBB.1.16 and a total of 1,501 cases were found to be infected with this variant. A total of 19 deaths were reported among the cases of this variant, the health department said.
There are 432 active cases in the state at present. Mumbai recorded 22 new cases. The state's case fatality rate is 1.81 per cent, the health department said.
A total of 87 people recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative recovery count to 80,20,034. The recovery rate in the state is 98.18 per cent. It said that 5,633 tests were conducted in the state in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative test count to 8,71,51,304.
