Karnataka Covid-19 Spike: 32 Students Of A Residential School Test Positive

So far it has been reported that 10 students are symptomatic while 22 others are not showing any symptoms. The school has been declared as a containment zone since the students tested Covid-19 positive.

Karnataka Covid-19 Spike: 32 Students Of A Residential School Test Positive

As many as 32 students of Karnataka's Jawahar Navodaya Vidayalaya in Madikeri of Kodagu district have tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday.

Over a week ago, all the 270 students of the school were tested for the virus. Amongst them, 10 girls and 22 boys tested positive. The students belong to classes 9 to 12.

So far it has been reported that 10  students are symptomatic while 22 others are not showing any symptoms. One staff member has also tested positive and is symptomatic. All of them are being treated at the district hospital.

The school has been declared as a containment zone since the  students tested Covid-19 positive.

The Karnataka government had reopened in-person classes for the students after the daily Covid-19 cases declined.

On Monday, schools for students of classes 1-5 reopened in Karnataka with strict Covid-19 SOPs. The state government reopened schools for students of classes 6 to 8 from September 6 and for students of classes 9 to 12 from August 23.
