BJP workers staged a protest outside the Delhi assembly today against AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal who was questioned by the CBI yesterday for his role in the alleged Delhi excise policy case. Some protestors tried to breach the barricade placed by security personnel.
The party unit workers protested as the daylong session of the assembly continued after 11 am and demanded the resignation of the AAP chief. Meanwhile, the latter tweeted saying that he would be speaking at the Delhi legislative assembly today at 4 pm.
Yesterday, several senior AAP leaders were detained by the Delhi Police while they were staging a sit-in on Sunday against the CBI summoning Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case but were released in the evening.
The detainees included Rajya Sabha MPs Sanjay Singh and Raghav Chadha, Delhi ministers Saurabh Bharadwaj, Atishi and Kailash Gahlot, AAP spokesperson Adil Ahmad Khan, its general secretary Pankaj Gupta and some ministers in the Punjab government. While being released from the police station, the AAP leaders raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The CBI summoned Kejriwal to its office to answer questions of the investigation team as a witness in the excise policy case, according to a notice issued by the agency.
