The Delhi government has ordered the closure of schools on Monday amid record-breaking rains in the national capital, announced Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday.
In a tweet in Hindi, Kejriwal said, "Considering the heavy rainfall over the past two days and the warnings from the weather department, all schools in Delhi are being closed for one day tomorrow."
The rainfall in Delhi broke 40-year record on Sunday as the national capital received 153 mm rain in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on Sunday. Every day life was disrupted as several parts of the city were inundated.
Heavy rains are lashing several parts of North India. At least 10 people have died in rain-related incidents in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan have also recorded heavy rainfall.
