A Delhi court on Wednesday extended the judicial custody of the accused government officer Premoday Khakha, who was earlier suspended for raping a minor over months and impregnating her, by 14 days.His wife Seema Rani's judicial custody, who is accused of giving the girl medicine to terminate her pregnancy, was also extended by 14 days.
Both were produced before Additional Sessions Judge (POCSO) Richa Parihar.
According to the Counsel for the accused, Umashankar Gautam, both the accused will be now produced in court after completion of their judicial custody on September 6.
Khakha underwent a potency test on Tuesday. In a bid to establish whether the accused is capable of engaging in sexual acts or not, a potency test is conducted by a certified urologist in a criminal case of sexual assault or rape.
Citing that the accused officer has undergone a vasectomy 20 yeras ago, the lawyer representing Premoday Khakha and Seema Rani stated yesterday that all the allegations levelled against Khakha are baseless.
Meanwhile, the minor informed the police that the accused officer used to harass her in a church as well.
The suspended Delhi government officer had reportedly held the post of deputy secretary at the same church.
All about the case
The Deputy Director of the Women and Child Development department, Premoday Khakha, was accused of raping his friend's 14-year-old daughter for several times between November 2020 and January 2021. Moreover, the official's wife has been accused of giving the survivor abortion pills.
The victim started living with the accused and his family since her father's death. The accused reportedly was her local guardian and the girl used to call him ‘mama’ (maternal uncle).
The Delhi government official has also been suspended on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's order.
Delhi Police has lodged an FIR against the accused and his wife on charges of rape under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The wife has been charged with giving her medicine to terminate the pregnancy
