Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar and two other Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates have won Rajya Sabha elections unopposed from Gujarat.
The other two BJP candidates are Babubhai Desai and Kesaridev Singh Jhala, according to India Today.
This would be second term for Jaishankar, who joined the second Modi ministry in 2019 as the Minister of External Affairs after his predecessor Sushma Swaraj stepped down from electoral politics.
These three seats would take the BJP's tally to 93 in the 245-member Rajya Sabha with a boost of one seat. Unlike Lok Sabha where the BJP has a clear majority, it does not have a similar majority in Rajya Sabha.
This is a developing story. It will be updated as details emerge.
