In a shocking incident, dreaded gangster Tillu Tajpuriya was stabbed to death inside Delhi's Tihar jail on Tuesday. According to police sources, Tajpuriya was killed by members of the rival gang led by Jitender Gogi, who was shot dead inside a court in 2021. The attackers had allegedly plotted Tajpuriya's killing to avenge their leader's death.
According to NDTV, the attackers created knives out of an exhaust fan's iron parts, used bedsheets to climb down a floor, and broke through an iron net to barge into Tajpuriya's cell to beat him to death.
Video footage showed that Tajpuriya attempted to shield his face, but his attackers overpowered him and forcibly removed him from his cell. The gangster's body had close to 100 injury marks, the report said.
They allegedly consumed painkillers before the attack to numb any pain they might feel in case they were beaten after the attack, as per an India Today report.
Tajpuriya was shifted to the ground floor of the high-risk ward, while his attackers were on the first floor. The attackers had managed to cut the iron net by drilling holes in the walls and pouring water in it over a period of days. The part of the net that was cut was not covered by the CCTV, making it easier for the attackers, the India Today report said.
Who was Tillu Tajpuriya?
Tillu was the alleged mastermind of the Rohini shootout murder in December 2021, which was planned from inside the jail. Tillu and Gogi had been friends, but the two became rivals during a student union election at Delhi’s Swami Shraddhanand College.
The two men and their gang members targeted each other in the name of gang war and area dominance. Tillu was arrested in 2016 and was involved in over 11 cases of murder, the Arms Act, extortion, robbery, etc. He managed to run his gang from inside the jail for years and orchestrated several killings, according to reports.
