Six persons died after a speeding truck hit a private bus on Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway near Anand town in Gujarat in the wee hours of Monday.
Anand Rural police station official informed that the accident took place near Chikhodra village in Anand district at around 4.30 am when the private luxury bus had pulled over on the roadside after one of its tyres burst.
The bus was heading towards Ahmedabad and as the tyre was being changed some of the bus passengers deboarded while some of them were waiting in front of the vehicle.
This is when a speeding truck hit the bus from behind on the highway.
Five persons died on the spot while one succumbed to injuries in a hospital. The official added that the bus driver also died in the accident.
According to the police, the deceased included three women and as many men and they were yet to be identified.
The injured persons were admitted to hospital, the official said.
Gaurav Jasani, SP Anand told ANI, "At least six people died and eight were injured after a bus collided with a truck on the Ahmedabad-Vadodra Express Highway in Anand, earlier today."
