Puducherry: Due to heavy rainfall in the region, Education Minister A Namachivayam announced on Wednesday that all government and private schools in Puducherry will remain closed on November 22. Reports from local media sources also indicate a similar holiday declaration for schools in the Karaikal region.

This marks the second instance this month of schools being closed in the wake of heavy rains. Earlier in November, both schools and colleges in Chennai and Puducherry had shut down due to the relentless downpour affecting Tamil Nadu and the broader region.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued advisories on Tuesday, urging caution in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. An orange warning was issued for parts of these states as the Northeast monsoon intensified, leading to heavy rainfall in the region.

Kerala is currently preparing for isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall on Wednesday (November 22) and Thursday (November 23). In parallel, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are expected to experience heavy rainfall on Wednesday (November 22).

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, various regions across Andhra Pradesh witnessed cloudy conditions. With North India embracing colder temperatures, the South anticipates rains.
