The Indian Navy successfully rescued all 21 crew members, including 15 Indians, from a cargo ship hijacked off the coast of Somalia. The rescue operation, carried out with precision, involved a warship, maritime patrol aircraft, helicopters, and Predator MQ9B drones.
In a heartfelt moment captured on video, the rescued Indian sailors expressed their gratitude, chanting "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and thanking the Navy for their safe rescue. One of the sailors, describing their 24-hour ordeal, expressed relief after the Navy intervention.
Another rescued sailor commended the Indian Navy, stating, "Proud of Indian Navy." Following a hijacking distress call, the Navy swiftly responded, deploying elite commandos, MARCOS, to conduct a thorough sanitization of the ship, confirming the absence of hijackers.
With all 21 crew members from MV Lila Norfolk now safe, the Indian Naval forces are actively investigating suspected vessels in the area. The crew is currently focused on restoring the ship's propulsion, power supply, and steering gear. Once completed, the vessel will resume its journey to its destination under the escort of an Indian Naval Warship.
