Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami declared that illegal encroachments in the name of "land jihad" would not be tolerated, emphasizing the need to preserve the atmosphere in the state.

Speaking at a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) meeting, Dhami highlighted that certain communities had unlawfully occupied land and constructed structures in border areas, which were now being dismantled as part of a statewide initiative. The state government had previously urged encroachers to voluntarily remove such structures, warning that the administration would demolish them otherwise.

Dhami further emphasized that the state of Uttarakhand aimed to be the first in the country to implement a Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He revealed that a committee responsible for drafting the UCC had made substantial progress, with a report slated for submission to the government by June 30.

The proposed UCC would apply to people of all religions and communities, and Dhami envisioned Uttarakhand's UCC becoming a model for the entire nation.

The VHP's central Margadarshak Mandal convened a two-day meeting to discuss various subjects, including conversion, land jihad, same-sex marriages, and live-in relationships. This gathering reflects the ongoing dialogue and concerns surrounding these issues within the community.
