IMD Forecast: Alerts Issued For Heavy Rainfall, Dense Fog Across North India

According to the India Meteorological Department, Delhi is expected to experience light rain on January 31 and February 1 as a second western disturbance moves towards the plains.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow and orange alerts for several states across north India, predicting rainfall in the coming days amidst the prevailing cold wave conditions.

According to the IMD, Delhi is expected to experience light rain on January 31 and February 1 as a second western disturbance moves towards the plains.

The weather department mentioned the likelihood of a wet spell over the Western Himalayan Region between January 29 and February 3, resulting in rainfall across northern regions on January 30 and 31.

IMD Forecast Across North India

Rainfall Predictions:

  • Moderate rainfall or snowfall expected over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh until 3 February.

  • Heavy rainfall or snowfall anticipated over Kashmir on 30 and 31 January, and over Himachal Pradesh on 31 January.

  • Moderate rainfall or snowfall expected over Uttarakhand, with light rainfall over Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, and West Uttar Pradesh during 31 January to 2 February.

Minimum Temperature Forecast:

  • Rise by 2-4°C in minimum temperatures likely over many parts of Northwest India in the next 4-5 days.

  • Minimum temperatures expected to rise by 3-5°C in East India in the next 3 days.

  • Minimum temperatures likely to rise by 2-4°C in West India in the next 3 days.

Dense Fog Forecast:

  • Very dense fog conditions likely in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan from 29 to 30 January.

  • Very dense fog conditions expected in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on 29 January.

  • Very dense fog conditions anticipated in Bihar from 29 to 31 January.

  • Dense fog conditions predicted in Uttarakhand, north Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on 29 January.

Train Disruptions:

Adverse weather conditions have disrupted train services at the New Delhi Railway Station, resulting in the cancellation of the 20808 Hirakund Express. Delays were reported for the 04449 New Delhi to Kurukshetra Junction and the 12011 Kalka Shatabdi Express.
