The police Special Investigative Team formed to nab the killers of senior journalist Gauri Lankesh today released the sketches of the suspected killers.
The police have released the sketches of the suspected killers and have sought for cooperation from the people in helping them, reported ANI.
In a press conference held today, the police said they also have a video of recee done by the suspects which is going to be released too. However, the police have refrained attributing communal colour to the recent development, saying they can't ascertain religion of suspects by external appearances like tilak or earrings as it could be done to mislead.
The police have also already investigated around 200-250 suspects in the matter and seem to be one step closer to finding out the culprits.
On reports that weapons used to kill Lankesh were the same used to shoot dead M.M Kalbhurgi, another rationalist in 2015 in a case that remains unsolved, the police said there is no confirmation on the matter.
The police have also clarified that reports that suggested Sanathan Sanstha was behind the attack on Lankesh was only circulated in the media and that they do not possess any such information.
Hindu outfit Sanatan Sanstha had earlier denied any role in the killing of activist-journalist Gauri Lankesh outside her home, calling the allegations against the group an effort to "falsely implicate" it.
55-year-old Lankesh was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants after she had returned home in her car on September 5. Two bullets had hit her in the chest and one on her forehead.
The Karnataka government had constituted the SIT headed by IGP (Intelligence) B K Singh to probe the murder which unleashed outrage across the country.
