Leaders of the opposition INDIA bloc are scheduled to convene at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's residence in Delhi on December 6 to formulate a strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, according to sources on Sunday.

The evening meeting is anticipated to center around discussions and finalization of plans to counter the BJP in the upcoming polls, sources revealed.

The Congress had been awaiting the results of assembly elections in five states — Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram — before settling on further strategy plans.

Vote counting for the elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana commenced at 8 am on Sunday, while the Mizoram assembly election results will be unveiled on Monday.

As part of the INDIA bloc, at least 26 parties have joined forces to challenge the BJP in the general elections, having conducted three rounds of discussion in Patna, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.

Sources indicate that opposition leaders will now devise plans for joint rallies, which were temporarily halted due to the assembly elections. Additionally, discussions on seat-sharing between regional outfits are expected to gain momentum in the upcoming meeting.
