Just last month, the daily Covid-19 cases were towering in the 35-40k range but now they are coming down at a fast pace. In the past 15 days, they have constantly remained under 20,000.

On 12th October, 15,823 fresh cases were reported which fluctuated for 9 days and are now lingering back at 15,786 as of yesterday's data published today morning.

Just after the lowest Covid-19 cases in 224 days were recorded on the previous day, from 15, 823 on October 11th, they rose again to 18,987 the next day and then, they started coming down and just touched 13,058 cases on 18th October, the lowest daily rise in nearly 8 months.  Then they increased over a period of 2 days and came up to 18,454 as of day before yesterday and finally settled at 15,786 yesterday.

Active cases have slightly gone up in the past 24 hours to 1,75,745 - the lowest in over 270 days.

This brings a lot of relief for the Indians as the Hindu festival of Diwali is just round the corner.

When the second wave was at its peak, daily Covid-19 cases as high as 4,14,188  were being recorded. At that time, only 2.2% of the population was fully vaccinated and around 10% jabbed with the first dose. However now, around 75% of the people have received their first dose and 31% have been fully vaccinated. India just celebrated 100 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines administered. Most of the experts believed that the third wave was set to hit India in the month of October but there have been no such indications while the month is coming to an end now.
