The government is involved in relief work in Uttar Pradesh's Auraiya district where 24 migrants were killed in a road accident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted hours after the incident on Saturday.
"The road accident in Uttar Pradesh's Auraiya is extremely sad. The government is promptly involved in the relief work. I express my condolences to the families of those killed in this accident, as well as wish the injured a speedy recovery," PM Modi tweeted in Hindi.
At least 24 migrant labourers lost their lives and 36 people sustained injuries when a trailer truck carrying them collided with another truck in the early hours of Saturday in this district of Uttar Pradesh, police said.
Both the trucks were carrying the labourers. The incident took place between 3 am and 3.30 am.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased.
