2020 was a breath away from being cast as the year lost to tedium, but the people at Percept Live might have just salvaged it. Their illustrious creation, the Sunburn Festival, is all set to take place in Vagator, Goa, later this year.
The popular dance and music festival is Asia’s crown jewel; a celebrated affair that brings together a mix of Indian and international artists to thousands of dance music lovers pan India and overseas. It has grown to achieve a cult-event status for its fervent audience and has carved a position for Goa on the global dance destination map. The sun-soaked land of Vagator will now play host to Sunburn’s 14th edition on 27th, 28th, and 29th December.
"Covid-19 has literally put the pause on life. In India, we have witnessed stringent lockdown measures since March 2020. An unprecedented 7 months of staying in and staying safe. With the Unlock procedures initiated and specially Unlock 5 permitting ground events, we figured it's time to restart lives," Karan Singh, COO, Percept Live said.
The new Unlock 5 guidelines have witnessed a revival of various ground events, allowing them to host the open-air fiesta safely. The festival will follow best safety practices in tandem with the government and WHO safety guidelines.
“Time to ‘Live Again’, and most importantly ‘Live, Love, Dance again’. Sunburn Goa 2020 will be a Limited Capacity, super safe event following global best practices and all applicable guidelines. Fan safety is our top priority,” Singh said. While the warmth and energy of the festival remain intact, these new rules will help people enjoy the festivities responsibly.
“This is a very limited capacity event, operating at 20% of the total festival capacity,” he added. The festival will reinforce social distancing guidelines by setting up PODs and designated areas across the venue. These PODs and Designated Zones will see families or a group of friends socialize with one another only within the confines of their respective areas but with no one else outside their area or structure. Surveillance cameras and patrolling will act as a check to these rules.
Further, the venue will allow entry only after presenting the Aarogya Setu app and face masks are mandatory for all guests. Groundwork is being laid to put thermal scanning and hand wash appliances in several places across the sprawling Vagator lands.
Entry will be allowed through Aarogya Setu app, and groundwork laid for thermal scanning and hand wash across the ground in Vagator. The organisers have mandated face masks throughout the duration of the festival. Due to the limited capacity and social guidelines in place, the festival will reach its expansive base through a live stream for an online audience across Sunburn social media handles including Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram.
Fans can choose to attend the live ‘Sunburn Festival’ in Vagator or enjoy the foot-tapping music, vibrant visuals, SFX, breathtaking LED effects and state-of-the-art AV broadcast into the comfort and safety of their homes around the world. Limited early bird tickets will go live on Bookmyshow.com at noon on 4th November.
“Your Safety, Our Priority” will be the guiding principle, Percept Live said, as it readies to pack in the fun, music, and adventure for its booming fanbase on-ground and online.
