Balvinder Kumar is a much sought after man. As a Member of the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority, the 1957-born former bureaucrat is witnessing the extreme duress home buyers are suffering at the hands of unscrupulous builders. Kumar often sits in judgement and disposes of cases where home buyers seek justice after landing up at his Greater Noida office, completely broken.
'Redesign Your Life in Modern Age' is Kumar's third book. His previous two books, Man’s Spiritual Journey and Awakening the Thinking Mind, explore spiritual life as it primarily relates to inherent features and functioning of mind. This one, released on December 15 at Delhi's Kamani auditorium, is perhaps more linked to every day life -- man's pursuit of material gains at the expense of lifestyle issues.
"My current job gives me a wholesome picture of the modern society. On one hand, the world is becoming a better place to live. We are becoming healthier, wealthier, leading a more comfortable life and getting entertained by many more pleasurable goods and things.

"But sadly, at the same time, we are becoming more and more unhappy and discontented with our life. We were in fact happier a few decades back. While chasing pleasure and success, we are becoming more unsatisfied.
"Our priorities are misplaced. Rather than pursuing happiness, we run after pleasurable and material goods," says Kumar, who has a Masters degree in philosophy from Delhi University and a Masters in Development Administration from University of Birmingham.
What is unique about 'Redesign Your Life in Modern Age' is that it has more than 60 illustrations and images which will help the readers in understanding more clearly the issues governing our life journey.
From genetic blueprint which we get from our parents and early childhood experiences to the very last end of our journey i.e. the process of dying and death, more than 50 subject matters have been covered and briefly explained in the book.
The book, published by Shubhi Publications, outlines the path to mindful living. How can we become a better human being in the modern times, is the central theme of the book.
"From younger generation to elders, for all age groups, this book can act as a catalyst as well as a guide for making life happier and contended thereby reaching to the destination where we want to reach," says Kumar.
