A masked mob, armed with sticks and rods, entered the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus on Sunday evening and beat several students and teachers, including the JNU Students’ Union President Aishe Ghosh.
Several injured students have admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
Ghosh, who was also rushed to AIIMS, has suffered head injury.
According to the JNU administration, "masked miscreants armed with sticks were roaming around, damaging property and attacking people".
The Left-controlled JNUSU and the ABVP blamed each other for the violence that continued for nearly two hours.
