Amid tensions between India and Nepal, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday that the government will sort out any misunderstanding between the two countries through dialogue.
"If there is any misunderstanding between India and Nepal, then we will sort it out through dialogue," said Singh.
Speaking at a virtual rally of the BJP in Uttarakhand, he further said, "Indo-Nepal ties are not ordinary, we are bound together by 'roti-beti' and no power in world can break it."
"Our relations are not only historical and cultural, but also spiritual, and India can never forget it," he said. "How can relations between India and Nepal break!"
India also recently took up with Nepal the killing of an Indian by Nepalese border guards on Friday in a border area near Sitamarhi district of Bihar, news agency PTI reported quoting official sources.
The Nepalese guards opened fire on a crowd killing the 22-year-old Indian man and injuring two others following an altercation, according to Indian officials.
The incident came in the midst of a raging border row between the two countries after the Nepalese government came out with a map depicting areas of Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura as Nepalese territories.
Nepal's Parliament had on Saturday unanimously voted to amend the Constitution to update the country's new political map, laying claim over three strategically key areas along the border with it. The new map prompted India to say that such "artificial enlargement" of territorial claim is untenable.
If the road built by India has caused any misunderstanding among the people of Nepal, then it will be sorted out through dialogue, the senior BJP leader said, asserting Indians could never have any bitterness about Nepal.
