Family members of 11 policemen have been kidnapped after terrorists raided the homes of several police officers in south Kashmir on Thursday evening.

The police sources said militants have abducted relatives of police constables from three districts, Kulgam Anantnag and Pulwama of South Kashmir.

The militants' action came on a day when the NIA arrested the second son of globally wanted terrorist Syed Salahuddin.

Earlier on Wednesday, the son of a policeman was kidnapped from Tral. The family members have appealed to the kidnappers to release their son. In her appeal, the mother has requested the terror groups to show mercy. A video that has surfaced on social media shows the family and relative pleadings for the child's release.

Following the abduction, the Jammu and Kashmir police have sounded a high alert in Kashmir.

This is first time in last 28 years of terrorism in Kashmir when families of policemen have been targeted like this.
