In a case similar to the infamous Shraddha Walkar murder, a man has been arrested in Jammu and Kashmir for allegedly killing a woman and chopping her body in pieces to dispose off the parts, according to J&K Police.
The case pertains to the disappearance of a woman on March 7. The following day, her brother Tanveer Ahmad of Soibug area of Budgam district approached the J&K Police regarding his missing sister. He said that his sister had left for a coaching centre the previous day but had not returned home since.
Following Tanveer’s complaint, a missing person report was registered and investigation was started. As part of the probe, the police called several suspects including Shabir Ahmad Wani, 45, of Mohandpora area in Budgam for questioning. During the investigation, Wani confessed to murdering the missing woman and chopping her body and burying the body parts at different locations. Wani is married and has children.
Last year in Delhi, a man named Aaftab Poonawalla was arrested for allegedly murdering his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar in their house in South Delhi. After her death, he allegedly chopped her body in 35 parts and disposed off the parts in Delhi forests over several days.
The police on his disclosure have recovered the body parts of the diseased woman. Sources say the body parts were recovered under a railway bridge among other areas. The accused had buried her head in the backside of his house. The police have not yet disclosed the intent behind the murder.
According to the family, the woman was on her way to a computer centre when she allegedly disappeared. The deceased was educated with Bachelor of Education (B Ed) and a Master of Arts in Education (MA) degrees. She was engaged and her marriage was going to take place later this year. The accused was a carpenter who was earlier engaged by the family of the woman for some work.
