Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday took over as the party president of Janata Dal (United) following the resignation of senior party leader Lalan Singh at the party's key meeting in New Delhi.The major change in the party came as many criticized Singh's leadership style.
The national council meeting of the party, which is scheduled for the later part of the day, is likely to ratify decisions taken in the executive meeting.
As per media reports, most key leaders within the party were of the view that Kumar being its most prominent face should take charge of the organisation at this crucial time in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls in 2024.
