Kargil Vijay Diwas: Two-Day Event To Celebrate 24th Anniversary Of Triumph Begins Today - Here's All About It

The two-day event of Kargil Vijay Diwas to mark the 24th anniversary of India's triumph in the 1999 Kargil War with Pakistan is scheduled to begin today which will be graced by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh who will arrive on Wednesday to pay homage to the jawans who laid down their lives for the nation.

Commemorating India's triumph in the 1999 Kargil War with Pakistan, India is all set for the two-day event to celebrate the 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas.

The two-day event is scheduled to begin today which will be graced by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh who will arrive on Wednesday to pay homage to the jawans who laid down their lives for the nation.

All about the ceremonial event

With floral tributes at the memorial, the main event to mark the Vijay Diwas and commemorate the jawans' martyrdom will begin this evening.

Many current and former top Army officers are expected to lay wreaths. 

As per media reports, there will be a memorial service and a visit to the 'Hut of Remembrance', a museum constructed adjacent to the memorial.

The event will also include the lighting of lamps and a prayer service, followed by the traditional pipe band and static band display and the Beating Retreat.

Every year, the families of the martyred soldiers make it a point to visit the memorial each year on the occasion.

Many of them have already arrived for this year's event.
