Hours after Lietenant Governor of Puducherry Kiran Bedi shared on Twitter a video of an old woman dancing in a festive mood claiming she was the Prime Minister's mother, the former IPS officer came up with a clarification, accepting there it wasa 'mistaken identity'.

Bedi had on Friday morning tweeted a video of an aged woman dancing, with the caption, "Spirit of Deepavali at tender age of 97. She's mother of @narendramodi (Hiraben Modi - 1920) celebrating Diwali at her home.'

The video in question was found available on YouTube uploaded two weeks ago, with the caption, 'Old woman doing garba dance.. Navratra 2017'.

Twitter users were quick in finding out the case of mistaken identity by Bedi who is also a retired IPS officer, wondering how the former top cop occupying a constitutional post could share a video before verifying its whereabouts.

Bedi soon tweeted an acknowledgement of the mistake.

India's highest ranking woman bureaucrat let her guards down on the social networking site which is a minefield of unverified, false information, much of which are given wind on social media by leaders from Bedi's own party- the BJP.
