A Mercedes-Benz SUV collided with a 'kachori' shop in north Delhi's Civil Lines on Sunday afternoon injuring six people, including shop workers.
The driver, identified as businessman Parag Maini of Sector 79 in Noida, was arrested at the scene and the vehicle involved was seized.
CCTV footage of the incident emerged online, depicting a white Mercedes-Benz striking individuals outside the shop before crashing into a wall.
A police official told PTI that Maini was accompanied by his wife and had visited the shop for kachori that day.
"While parking his car outside the shop, he lost control of the vehicle when he mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brakes," he added.
The incident occurred at Fatehchand Kachori shop on Rajpur Road which is quite famous in the area, was less crowded at that time otherwise it would have led to a bigger tragedy, explained the police.
"As per the preliminary medical examination, the driver was not under the influence of alcohol. His blood sample, though, has been preserved for further analysis as an investigation is still on," DCP Meena said.
He said the injured were admitted at Tirath Ram Shah Hospital in Civil Lines.
A case under sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Civil Lines police station, the police said.
