Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has confirmed the safety of 26 girl inmates initially reported missing from a children's home, directing officials to take action against illegally operating institutions.
A case had been registered by the police regarding the alleged disappearance of the girls from Anchal Children's Home in Parwalia, located approximately 20 kilometers from the district headquarters.
Officials suggested that the girls might have left due to homesickness.
CM Yadav, later in a statement on X, reassured the public that the missing girls from the children's home in Pawalia, Bhopal, were safe and had been identified. During a video conference from Indore, he instructed senior officials to take strict action against children's homes operating without proper permissions and registration.
Bhopal district rural Superintendent of Police Pramod Kumar Singh confirmed to PTI that all the missing girls were safe and reunited with their families.
Earlier in the week, an FIR was registered based on a complaint by district program officer Ramgopal Yadav against Anil Mathew for allegedly running the children's home illegally. The complainant stated that Mathew failed to provide a registration certificate for the facility, and 26 out of the 68 girl inmates were reported missing.
