Madrassas In UP Will Introduce NCERT Syllabus From March, Confirms Chairman

The Uttar Pradesh Board of Madrassas will introduce the NCERT syllabus in the coming months along with religious instructions, said Iftikhar Ahmed Javed, Madrasa Education Council Chairman on Monday.

The Chairman said, "Madrassa children will also study the NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) syllabus this year. Modern education will be given along with religious education," reports NCERT. 

Javed said that the focus of the studies would be on 'modern' education where students will learn maths, science computers and so on. 

The new syllabus for KG, LKG and UKG will be rolled out in March this year. 

This comes a week after the UP Madrassas board held a meeting on the weekly holidays of the educational institutions. 

The weekly holiday in the madrassa of Uttar Pradesh will continue to be on Fridays, the state madrassa education board informed.

In 2023 madrassa will have a total of 75 holidays. The annual holiday will be of 36 days including that of Ramzan and Eid-ul-Fitr. The weekly holiday in the madrassa will continue to be on Friday, board chairman Iftikhar Ahmed Javed told PTI.

In a meeting convened by the madrassa board to discuss amendments to the Uttar Pradesh Non-Governmental Arabic and Persian Recognition Administration and Service Regulation - 2016, several suggestions came up, including shifting the weekly holiday of madrassa to Sundays instead of Fridays.
