Manipur: Over 9,000 Displaced, Shoot At Sight Order Issued To Contain Violence

Around 9,000 people have been displaced in Manipur in the ongoing ethnic violence. Fifty-five columns of the Indian Army along with central paramilitary personnel have been deployed in the state. The Government of Manipur has issued shoot-at-sight orders to contain the violence. Around 6,000 soldiers are currently on the ground and more are being brought in from Nagaland by road while the Indian Air Force (IAF) is flying in reinforcements from Guwahati and Tezpur, as per reports.
