Manipur government on Tuesday imposed Section 144 in Churachandpur district for next two months as the ethnic-clashes hit northeastern state witnessed fresh violence.This decision came in light of an incident of clashes between two warring groups of individuals on December 18 at Thingkangphai village.

In a bid to maintain law and order in the region, Section 144 has been implemented promptly by the authorities, which prohibits the assembly of four or more people to prevent further disturbances.

The extension of Section 144 underscores the government's commitment to restoring peace and preventing any further untoward incidents. 

Since the onset of the clashes in May 3 this year, the Churachandpur district continues to bear the brunt of the ethnic violence that erupted between the two two warring communities of Meitei and Kuki.
