The results of the Assembly Elections in Mizoram have been revealed with significant triumph for the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM). The opposition party has emerged victorious, clinching an impressive 27 out of 40 seats in the North Eastern state.

The ruling Mizo National Front (MNF), led by Chief Minister Zoramthanga, managed to secure 10 seats and was leading in one constituency.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), contesting in 23 seats, secured victories in only two constituencies, while the Congress secured just one seat.

Exit poll results had hinted at a closely contested battle between the ruling MNF and the ZPM, led by former IPS officer Lalduhoma. While some projections favoured the ruling MNF, others foresaw a victory for the ZPM.

Mizoram was one of the five states, alongside MP, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana, that went to polls last month. The BJP emerged victorious in three states—MP, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh—while the Congress secured a win in Telangana.

The new government in Mizoram will be formed by the Zoram People's Movement. The complete list of winning candidates can be found here.
