Wrestler Bajrang Punia, who has been part of the ongoing wrestler's protest in Delhi has shared two images that show someone morphed their faces and turned it into them smiling while being detained by the Delhi Police.
Bajrang Punia blamed the IT cell for the morphed images as he tweeted in Hindi, which translates to, "IT Cell people are spreading this false picture. We make it clear that a complaint will be filed against whoever posts this fake picture."
The wrestlers Sakshi Malik, Vineh Phogat, Sangeeta Phogat and Bajrang Punia have been protesting against the Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan for sexual harassment along with other wrestlers demanding Bhushan's removal from his position and proper action to be taken against his alleged actions.
Social media celebrity Uorfi Javed reacted to the morphing of images of wrestlers. Javed tweeted, "Why do people edit photos like this to prove their lies!" She further wrote in Hindi that no one should stoop so low to prove someone wrong with lies.
Sakshi Malik told the media today that whoever has morphed the image is trying to defame the wrestlers. "Those who are doing this have no shame at all. How does God create such people? Pasting smiles on the faces of girls who are disturbed...I don't think they even have a heart. They are trying to defame us" she said.
The wrestlers along with their supporters were marching toward the new Parliament building as it was being inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself along with other ministers and dignitaries. The Delhi Police detained the wrestlers and had a scuffle with them on the road. The wrestlers including the women were manhandled by the police to not let them go near the building.
The protest site in Jantar Mantar was cleared by the police with all their belongings like cot, fans and tarpaulin ceilings.
According to reports, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Dependra Pathak said that the wrestlers did not oblige with the orders of the police, he added, "Today was an important day for the country as the new parliament building was to be inaugurated and despite warning not to march beyond the protest site, they continued to do so," and claimed it as a "highly irresponsible" behaviour by them.
Support and solidarity from across the nation have poured upon the courage of the wrestlers on social media. Opposition parties have blamed the Modi-led government for its silence over the matter.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin tweeted asking, "Is it moral to stage anarchy on the inauguration day, ignoring the President himself and being ignored by all the opposition parties?"
While Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wrote on Twitter, "The coronation is over - the 'arrogant king' is crushing the voice of the public on the streets!" as he shared a video of the scuffle between the wrestlers and the police.
