After a 24-year-old man was caught on camera brutally assaulting a woman, authorities in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district bulldozed his house as punishment. The man, identified as Pankaj Tripathi, allegedly thrashed the woman after she refused to marry him.
In a video that went viral on social media, Tripathi is seen slapping the woman, grabbing her hair and slamming her into the ground head-first. He then violently kicked her in the face and all over her body as she fell unconscious on the road.
She was taken to a hospital hours later by a local.
Tripathi was arrested by the police from Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur on Saturday night, as per a report published on NDTV. The case is one of rejection violence, wherein the woman had allegedly rejected the attacker's proposal.
On Monday, the district administration in Rewa sent a bulldozer to demolish his house. Supported by a group of policemen, the machine razed down Tripathi's house.
Tripathi, who made a living by driving, has also had his licence cancelled and a local policeman has been suspended for failing to take action against him on time, NDTV reported.
