In a tragic incident near Girgaon Chowpatty in Mumbai, two charred bodies have been discovered following a fire that erupted in a four-floor building on Saturday night.
The blaze originated on the third floor of Gomati Bhavan, located on Rangnekar Road, around 9:30 pm on Saturday, and it took six hours to bring the "level-2" (major) fire under control, according to PTI.
The grim discovery of two charred bodies was made in a bedroom and bathroom on the third floor. Fortunately, three individuals were successfully rescued from the building.
Responding promptly, eight fire engines and six jumbo tankers were dispatched to the scene. A total of five firefighting lines were deployed, including two from the staircases, one each from the north and south side of an adjacent building, and one high-pressure line from an angus ladder, the official stated.
The arduous firefighting efforts concluded around 3:30 am on Sunday. The cause of the fire remains unknown, prompting an ongoing investigation into the incident, as confirmed by the official.
