A muslim man from Madhya Pradesh was assaulted by a mob at a Marriage registrar office in Ghaziabad on Monday allegedly for wanting to marry a Hindu girl from Bijnor.
The police have taken suo-motu cognisance of the matter and registered case against 2 known and several unidentified persons, reported ANI.
The couple works at a company in Noida and were reportedly advised by police that they register their marriage in Ghaziabad out of "safety" concerns.
