After heated debates for the last three days on the no-confidence motion moved by the opposition INDIA bloc against the Narendra Modi-led NDA government, the motion was defeated in Lok Sabha on Thursday. Opposition MPs staged a walkout and skipped voting. This is the second time that the Modi government defeated a no-trust motion.

Countering the narrative of the opposition, PM Narendra Modi, in a 2-hour long address to the House, hailed his government's achievements in the last few years and attacked the opposition alliance for bringing up a no-confidence motion when other matters of "development" should "take priority in this 21st century". Meanwhile, Lok Sabha passed resolution moved by Parliament Affairs Minister to suspend Adhir Ranjan Choudhary, Leader of Congress from the lower house for ‘gross misconduct’ by disturbing the speech of PM Modi and other Union Ministers. The matter has been referred to Privilege Committee.
