In a viral video, an instructor was seen hitting some NCC students on the back with a stick while they were in an awkward push-up position in muddy rain water reportedly in a college in Thane in Maharashtra. College authorities claimed they would institute a probe to find out details. The student, who belonged to Bandodkar College, has been suspended.
The horrific video was reportedly shot by one of the students of the college. The video drew condemnation from netizens as well as local leaders, who sought a police case against the instructor. The students were seen bending down with their face facing towards a puddle amid rain and being beaten by a thick rod by an unidentified senior NCC trainer.
“The NCC instructor for this unit was transferred recently. Senior cadets taking over in the absence of teachers led to this incident,” a university senate member said.
While the police said they had not received any complaint in connection with the incident, the college authorities claimed they would institute a probe to find out details. Meanwhile, some senate members of Mumbai University have approached the vice chancellor, seeking action against the college principal for allowing the students to act as NCC instructor after the instructor was transferred to another college.
