A minor fire broke out inside a coach of the Durg Puri Express in Odisha's Naupada district on Thursday.
The incident has been known to have created panic among the passengers.
Acording to the East Coast Railway authorities, the incident did not cause any injuries or casualties.
In a statement released the same day, the ECoR said, "The brake pads caught fire due to friction and incomplete release of brakes. The fire was confined to the brake pads. There was no damage."
According to the statement, the smoke was detected in the B3 coach of the train as it reached the Khariar Road station on Thursday evening.
The situation was taken under control in less than an hour and the train departed the station at 11 pm, it said.
Many passengers rushed out of the train when smoke was detected, causing panic among several others.
