Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday will be launching a national highway project in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha. Shah will also be holding meetings on Left-wing extremism and disaster management at the state secretariat.
Amit Shah and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik were in Kalahandi district and laid the foundation stone for widening and strengthening of Moter to Banner via Ladugaon road.
Amit Shah spoke about the improving statistics regarding the curb of naxal attacks in the state, he thanked the Odisha government and the chief minister for the support to make this happen.
While addressing the audience, Amit Shah said, "I hail from Gujarat. I want to tell the people of Odisha that people of Gujarat have the same devotion for Lord Jagannath as you."
On Friday night, the home minister flew into Bhubaneswar and was received at the airport by Bharatiya Janata Party state president Manmohan Samal and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, among others.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will also be reportedly joining Shah for the two meetings at the state secretariat.
As per reports, there has been no confirmation about any one-to-one meeting between Shah and Patnaik.
Shah's visit to the state occurs at the same time that the Biju Janata Dal is pledging its support for the legislation that will replace the Delhi Services Ordinance, giving the Treasury benches, particularly in the Rajya Sabha, a boost.
The BJD is also supporting the BJP-led NDA government in its fight against the no-confidence motion brought by opposition parties in Parliament.
Reportedly, Amit Shah is set to hold a closed-door meeting with the party leaders at the BJP's state office on Saturday afternoon.
His last visit to the state on June 17 was cancelled in view of cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ hitting Gujarat.
