Not that Congress MP Shashi Tharoor enjoys lack of public admiration, but he may still not have expected a marriage proposal on the open grounds of Delhi.
Hundreds participated in this year's Delhi Pride Parade, demanding equal rights for the LGBTQI community, primarily addressing Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code.
Among the crowd was an eager man, with a board that said, 'Shashi Tharoor, Marry Me'. A picture was shared on Instagram and subsequently reached Tharoor.
The picture was drawn to Tharoor's attention by a web magazine on Twitter, to which he replied, "Haha! Now if they were only registered to vote in Thiruvananthapuram, it would be even better!"
Twitter which already is in awe of the former diplomat only began to admire him more with his response, even pleading him to run for the post of Prime Minister.
The two-time MP from Thiruvanathapuram has time and again raised his voice against Article 377 of the Indian Penal Code that criminalises 'unnatural sex' which invariably includes homosexual sex.
