Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to mark a significant milestone in India's infrastructure development as he inaugurates the first phase of the India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), fondly named YashoBhoomi, in Dwarka tomorrow, September 17. Additionally, he will also open the extension of the Delhi Airport Metro Express line, connecting Dwarka Sector 21 to the newly established metro station at Dwarka Sector 25 on Sunday.
In preparation for the inaugural ceremonies, Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory to ensure smooth proceedings. The advisory, as shared on X (formerly Twitter), reads, "Traffic Advisory: In view of the inauguration of The India International Convention & Expo Centre (IICEC) by the Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi on 17.09.2023, special traffic arrangements will be effective. Please follow the advisory."
This ambitious endeavor aligns with Prime Minister Modi's vision of providing India with world-class infrastructure to host meetings, conferences, and exhibitions on a global scale. "The operationalization of YashoBhoomi at Dwarka will be a big boost to the exercise," officials emphasized.
Spanning over 73,000 square meters, the convention center boasts an impressive array of facilities, including 15 convention rooms, a main auditorium, a grand ballroom, and 13 meeting rooms, with a combined capacity to accommodate 11,000 delegates. The main auditorium, capable of seating approximately 6,000 guests, serves as the plenary hall, while the grand ballroom, featuring a unique petal ceiling, can host up to 2,500 guests.
The IICC also underscores a strong commitment to sustainability, featuring a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment system with 100 percent wastewater reuse, rainwater harvesting, and rooftop solar panels. Notably, its campus has earned the prestigious Green Cities Platinum certification from the CII's Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
The inauguration of the new metro station at Dwarka Sector 25 will further enhance connectivity, as the convention center will be seamlessly linked to the Delhi Airport Metro Express line. According to PTI reports, the Delhi Metro will increase the operational speed of Metro trains on the Airport Express Line from 90 km/hr to 120 km/hr, significantly reducing travel time. The journey from New Delhi to YashoBhoomi Dwarka Sector 25 is expected to take approximately 21 minutes, making it even more accessible to attendees and visitors alike.
